For Pete's Sake!

(And no the bear was not strategically placed. That's just where I found it!)

This was the state of affairs I found Miss A in last night at approximately 11:00 PM. I am at a loss since she is getting out of her pajamas despite them being on backwards. The zipper is more at the side then the back but still... She hadn't figured out how to get out of her other couple of pairs but they are too hot for the summer. I have been looking for more zippered pj's but I'm having no luck. Anyone interested in getting together and inventing pajamas for kids that can get out of anything? I think there is a real market out there.

Today has already been rough and it's only 9:30. Perhaps because she normally isn't up until around now. There has been much crying and complaining. Here is photographic evidence. She looks a bit like Eliza don't you think?

To top it off she was 'helping' me with the laundry and because she is always moving at warp speed I didn't notice where she was and managed to smuck her in the head with the dryer door. Yay Mama! That was a classic move! Sigh.

My plan is to take her for a long walk this morning. With all the running back and forth to the hospital I haven't had any time for the gym this week. Blah!

Diapers are for Babies

I knew it was coming. I predicted it here. No amount of wishing it wouldn't happen could have stopped it.

Yesterday Miss A was in her crib 'napping' she took off every stitch of clothing which included – diaper, tights, onesie and jeans. Her diaper had poo in it. She gleefully smeared in all over her bottom sheet. After inspecting and cleaning her up it seemed she did most of the job with her feet.

Overall I thought I handled it quite well considering how frustrated I felt, not only with what she'd done but also with yet another day of nap refusal. I did count my blessings that she hadn't smeared it on the wall or anything that wasn't easily washable. I didn't even think of getting a photo. Although I guess that some of you with weak stomachs wouldn't be interested in seeing that anyhow.

As you can see she just doesn't think anyone should be wearing diapers or clothes for that matter. She gets very upset when I attempt to redress her dolls. Strange.

I am praying for a quick end to this phase. I'm not sure I'm up to it really. Not to mention I'm fairly certain that if Peter was confronted with the same mess he might just toss his cookies.

Houdini A

We have been having quite a bit of difficulty lately keeping Miss A in her clothing. And her diaper. I mentioned once before how much she enjoys her birthday suit. The problem is, it's winter for goodness sake! And diapers have a very important purpose and must be left in place on the bottom!

Some things that appear to be discouraging clothing removal are tights and onesies. And after a couple of bed time incidents (one of which pictured here) the pajamas have been going on backwards. Although yesterday morning despite the fact that her jammies were secure her diaper was not and there was a wet spot in her bed. Sigh. I bought some baby safe safety pins to try with her pajamas. I'm a little nervous using them because I am not convinced that she wouldn't be able to figure them out. At least enough to really poke herself which would be awful.

This is one of those challenges in parenting that is just random. I have had many moms tell me that their child never did this kind of thing. And then there are those who have experienced the same thing. A horror that I am desperately trying to avoid is poo fingerpainting. I have heard these tales and I don't want to go there.

If nothing else we have documented this phase on film.

Nature Baby

Lately Miss A has been taking a liking to going au natural. Well, almost. She still leaves her diaper on, most of the time.

I often find her after a nap with only her diaper on and her clothes, toys and blanket are all tossed on the floor below. She will wave at me when I come in and point to the stuff on the floor as if to say “Look Mama! All my stuff is on the floor. How'd it get there?” Gee, I have no idea. I also can't help but wonder if she is making a soft soft to land on when she decides to catapult herself out of her crib and onto the floor below. I wouldn't be a bit surprised. As it is, when I go in to get her she is often so excited she runs back and forth in her crib as though it is a gymnasium and rams into the ends with her round little belly. She is a wild child.

The other night while I was trying to put her to bed and she was not cooperating I put her pajamas back on her three times. She wouldn't leave them on. It was pretty funny at first but by the third time I just wanted her to keep them on and go to sleep for goodness sake.

Since bathing involves being naked, she loves her bath. She has just started to lay down on her tummy and splash around she also enjoys dunking her face in the water and blowing bubbles. Thanks to swimming lessons she is definitely not afraid of the water. (Sorry I pixelized her tushie but I just can't help thinking about the perverts out there.)

Today, I had to laugh. She had ripped off her pajamas, climbed up on the loveseat and was persistently putting on her shoe. Because, you know, I ALWAYS take her out with only her diaper and shoes on. In the winter. Sigh.
