Not Surprised

Some of the movies I choose for this game are so NOT girly movies. Such was the case this week. And so it did not surprise me when The Big Fugr won. I mean really girls, have you seen 'Over the Top'? I didn't think so.

Renaming the Game "Kristen"

Kristen is owning this game! Wow.

A long time ago, when I'd announce the winners I'd write a post about the movie I'd chosen and what it meant to me. Then I became lazy. And also, I wasn't sure if anyone cared. But today I have to say something about 'Pretty in Pink'.

Although I love this movie and found that it spoke to me in the sense that I was a poor girl myself, there are aspects that bug me. Their definition of 'poor' for instance. So Andie is poor. Because she lives on the wrong side of the tracks and because she lives in a small house. Not in an apartment, or a trailer, but a house. When I was young and poor I would have killed to live in a house.

Also, she has a car. A REALLY cool car. But it is old (which only makes it cooler) and it has a dent in it. Therefore, it is the car of a poor girl. Hmmm.

And finally, this poor girl seems to have her own line as well as an answering machine. Remember, this was the 80's. I don't think many poor kids were so lucky.

I guess when compared with the uber rich kids in her school she would be considered poor but not where I come from. In fact, as a kid I was jealous of Andie. I wished I had her life.

Another Winner

Kristen won again. But actually it was her husband. So congratulations to him.

Addicted to Winning

Kristen the Shoe Addict won this week. The quote was from 'Mask', a lovely little movie. I am a sucker for an Eric Stoltz flick.

Did everyone know that Beth is back? Well she is. And she's winning too!

Classic Winner

This seems to be another popular one that everybody knows. Jenn was the first to ring in though. Die hard fans should really watch the movie with commentary sometime. It's really interesting.

What a Winner Looks Like

Jenn was the fastest this week. Because EVERYBODY knows this movie. Here is a great video I found. The song used gives the film a whole new feel.

The dress at 3:21 was the inspiration for my wedding dress.

And for the sake of nostalgia...

First Timer

My good friend mns won Say WHAT? this week by guessing the line from 'Karate Kid'. Peter and I just watched this movie a couple weeks back. I think it has actually gotten better with time...

My Friend the Winner

The Big Fugr pulled a win out this week. "Near Dark" is a memorable vampire movie but not my favorite. I found a trailer for the movie which surprised me. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to what you can find on youtube...

Also, here is The Big Fugr performing "All These Things That I've Done" by The Killers... LIVE!

Hip Hip Hurray!!

One of my favorite people won Say WHAT? this week. ELIZASMOM! She correctly identified 'Drugstore Cowboy'. One crazy little film.

Anybody There?

I guess this was a hard one. From what I remember it was pretty good. Thanks for Googling Jenn.

My Homegirl

A person whom I actually know (and in fact I cut her hair this week) won our game for this week. It's Jen K I say 'our game' because it's really not mine, but it belongs to everyone who enjoys playing along.

The Neverending Story
had a huge impact on me when I saw it. I bawled my head off when his horse sunk in the quicksand. I may have even been screaming right along with Atreyu. I have been known to scream at the television when something is upsetting me. Like, last week.

We just purchased the movie at WalMart recently but we haven't watched it yet. Perhaps today.

She Strikes Again

Kristen aka The Shoe Addict
beat everyone to the punch this week identifying 'Youngblood'.

I admit this surprised me a bit because I fully intended one of the two guys that reads this blog (or at least drop by on Fridays to play the game) to win. You know, cause it's about hockey. And guys like hockey. But girls. We like cute boys. And in the 80's Rob Lowe was pretty much as cute as they came. And then there's Patrick Swayze. Although I must admit as long as Patrick is not dancing, I find Rob much more attractive.

Win, Win, Win!

This is a pretty messed up movie. But one I don't think I'll ever forget.

The Big Fugr hasn't won for a while and if a silly game like this can cheer anyone up I hope it does him.

Yeah Bon!

Bon does it again!!

We just bought this movie at Walmart today.

Good Job!

It's time for a celebration! We had a first time winner of Say WHAT? this week. Kristen from Diary of a Shoe Addict!

Way to go Kristen!

I loved the movie 'Loverboy'. It has pizza and a young Dempsey. How could you go wrong? Unfortunately I could not find any YouTube videos from it. So I'm posting a video Patrick Dempsey on Ellen. He laughs a lot during the interview. It's endearing.

Invincible

Way to go Bon!

Hello???

Thank you Bon for Googling. And congratulations once again! Not to take anything away from you hot streak of wins but have you been getting the feeling that no one else is really playing? I mean, you know, not no one but that you don't have a lot of competition. Anyway, whatever. I totally cool with you winning every week. Just think of it as me personally quizzing you each week.

I have to thank Kristen for her guess. I had never heard of 'The Toy' and in fact I thought "Did she mean 'Toys' with Robin Williams? But it wasn't an 80's movie." And then I looked it up and found it is indeed an 80's movie starring Richard Pryor. When I asked my husband if he'd heard of it he said "Of course!" as though I was the stupidest person alive. I don't know how I missed it. So in the true spirit of this game - you educated me on an 80's movie that I haven't seen. Bravo. And thanks for stopping by.

So here is a montage I found of 'Real Genius'.
