Giving it a Go

So I'm entering a short story competition. I've never done this kind of thing before. I've wanted to but I've never actually had the guts or the material to do it. But when the details in our local paper last week I decided I'd give it a go.

Then I couldn't think of a thing to write about. I tried to use a part of a story that I had already started but it didn't feel right. And then one night I was up at 2:30 AM with Miss A and it came to me. An idea. So once I got her back to bed I went and wrote down my ideas on a note pad. Then I lay in bed thinking about how the story would unfold. When really, I should have been sleeping.

It was easier to write then I thought it would be and I finished it yesterday. I sent it to a few friends and I'm waiting for feedback. I've been making small adjustments as necessary.

The deadline is the end of the month so that should be plenty of time to change anything I need to. I don't want to post it here so if anyone is interested please feel free to send me an email and request I send it to you. I'm really interested to know what everyone thinks.

I would LOVE to read it. I would also LOVE so much to be a writer, enter short story contests, AND get paid for doing the things I do at my blog like give advice, report celeb news, product reviews, etc...

I have a hair coloring question. Would you mind terribly answering it?

I cannot afford to color it. I want it darker and the ends are blonde-ish. I'm wondering what color or words to look for or avoid. I want a med auburn. I have some auburn in my natural color.

Thanks!!

Ooooh, me me me me! And aside from the fact that I am sure it will be a great story, you are so gutsy to enter a contest. I have never managed to get up the courasge, so my hat's off to you!
